Alan Lowenschuss (aka "Allowah"), M.A., eR.Y.T., B.A., is skilled both as a yoga teacher and a personal trainer. Before he began his yoga training a decade ago, he was a competitive runner, and he found that he was sorely missing the flexibility, focus, and calm strength that a regular yoga practice offers. Even more than that, Alan was drawn to the philosophy and deeper teachings of yoga, which inform his life and teaching.

For the last six years, Alan has taught group and private classes in Philadelphia and Naples, with much success. His style of teaching is a blend of yoga, martial arts, dance from Ashtanga, Iyengar, and the Afro-Brazilian art Capoeira, among others.

Currently residing in Naples, he hopes to continue to offer training year 'round to both Neapolitans and visitors of all levels, beginner to advanced, as well as to those students who would like to delve more deeply into yoga with him in the context of the SunShine State Yoga Academy.

Alan has a BA and MA in philosophy and comparative religion from the University of Pennsylvania. He is an 200-hour eRYT (experienced registered yoga teacher) through Yoga Alliance, and 300-hour Yoga Therapist through David Frawley's American Institute of Vedic Studies. In addition to his intensive yoga studies in India, Alan has also studied Judaism and Kabbalah in Israel and at New York University.

Although I have been attending yoga classes for several years, I recently started training with Alan based on feedback from other yoga instructors indicating that Alan is an exceptional teacher. I was not disappointed.

Alan is a gifted teacher, in addition to his technical excellence and diverse yoga training. In just a few months I find that my flexibility and balance have noticeably improved.

In addition, although I train with Alan several times a week, each class is different and challenging. He is constantly attuned to each student's individuality and inherent strengths and challenges. We are truly lucky to have Alan teaching yoga in our community.
