Partner Yoga is fast becoming a very popular form of yoga. It is based on the premise that oftentimes "two bodies are better than one" when it comes to getting the most out of your yoga practice. Mind you, it is not a substitute for your own personal practice, but it will add much to it, giving you a feel for how far you can go in the poses.
There are also aspects of yoga that pretty much require another person assisting -- poses or movements that would be unwise to attempt solo. Would you like to be able to backbend into Wheel, or kick up into a headstand or handstand? Well, it helps to have a partner to help. (Not that you have to attempt anything too fancy or advanced, this playshop is for all levels of students, and most of the poses will be mutually beneficial.)
Yoga on one's own can sometimes be a very solitary, dry, and at times even a mechanical, painful, or boring affair. Yoga with a partner is generally more lively, bonding, and can really be a joyful and exhilarating experience! It is all about connecting with another person in a safe, honoring, and deeper way than the usual "pleasantry exchange" ('heyhowyadoin!') surface way. It is also a lot of fun, and best of all, you do not need to have a partner to come and join in the fun! Yes, you can bring your Beloved partner, but you can also just come and there will be others with whom you can "play yoga."
Connected with Partner Yoga is Thai Yoga Massage, another beautiful aspect of yoga that has finally begun to receive the recognition it deserves. Thai Yoga massage combines aspects of assisted yoga and deep tissue massage to create quite a sensational experience! You will love the way the soothing touch of another feels after an hour of hard playing. And the wonderful thing is that you can take this practice home with you, and assist your family and friends to feel better the natural way.
