Here are a few of my notes on "The Secret." Many of us have seen or at least heard about it by this time. If you haven't seen it, contact me and I'll get you a copy. It's definitely worth seeing and they seemed to have updated the original version. Overall I enjoyed it, and I am sure the sequel they have planned will go into more detail and depth. As the "movie" (infomercial?) stands right now, it is none too subtle and not really a secret to most of us. We all understand the "Law of Attraction" and witnessed its power.
That said, why is it still so trying to manifest what we really desire to manifest in our lives? My experience is, and this is something that the film does touch on, is that in order to attract what we want into our lives, it is important to already have positive feelings about ourselves and our lives. If we don't have that -- if we are troubled by negative feelings/emotions, thoughts, patterns, self-judgments -- it is difficult to attract the beautiful, true, and good into our lives. So to do that, and the movie counsels this, we have to find our bliss, whatever helps to replace the negative with the positive. This could be anything really, as long as it doesn't hurt yourself or others.
For me, yoga has been a way of accessing the bliss (which the yoga tradition tells us is our true, divine nature), and I was reminded of this again the other day when P. told me that she was feeling blissful in class. Once you can access that, you can't really go back, the negative thoughts and patterns start to lose their hold. And again, whatever helps you to do that should be accentuated, even if you feel like you don't deserve it for whatever reason.
